Installing and Removing IMPRES Battery Fleet Management

This topic describes how to install and remove IMPRES Battery Fleet Management from your computer.

Installation

Note: You need to have Administrator rights on the target computer in order to install IMPRES Battery Fleet Management

If a previous version of Motorola IMPRES Battery Fleet Management has already been installed, you will be given the option to "Repair" or "Remove". If you are upgrading the Motorola IMPRES Battery Fleet Management, then remove the previous version and start the installation process again. If you are re-installing the Motorola IMPRES Battery Fleet Management, then choose the repair option. Please see the Removal section of this document (below) for complete instructions for removing and/or re-installing IMPRES Battery Fleet Management.

Note: The IMPRES Battery Fleet Management installation requires Windows Installer version 3.1 or greater. If Windows Installer 3.1 or greater is not installed on the target computer, you must install it prior to installing IMPRES Battery Fleet Management

Prerequsites

Prerequesites are software packages that are used by IMPRES Battery Fleet Management that may or may not already installed on the target computer. If not installed, the IMPRES Battery Fleet Management setup program will automatically install them for you. A Prequsites dialog will appear at the beginning of the installation if you are missing one or more prerequisite applications and will give you the option of installing the prerequsite or canceling the IMPRES Battery Fleet Management installation. The prerequsites for IMPRES Battery Fleet Management are:

Determining if the Computer is a Client or a Server

You should designate one computer in your organization as the IMPRES Battery Fleet Management server. All other computers onto which IMPRES Battery Fleet Management is installed would then be considered to be client computers.

The IMPRES Battery Fleet Management installation procedure is the same for both client and server computers and you will not choose a type designation during the installation. Which computer is the server and which are clients is defined to IMPRES Battery Fleet Management during the application setup and configuration. However, you should be aware that the hardware prerequistes differ between client and server computers as follows:

To remove IMPRES Battery Fleet Management from your computer, click "Add or Remove Programs" from the Control Panel, select "Motorola IMPRES Battery Fleet Management" and click on the Remove button. Follow the instructions in the removal process to un install IMPRES Battery Fleet Management.
